Shown on this page are a few hard to find products useful for fitting stair parts.
We see little point in selling common fixings such as screws and glue at the inflated prices offered on other companies' web sites; it is far cheaper for you to visit you local DIY store.
All prices shown are subject to V.A.T. at the current rate.
Cross-Grain plugs or pellets are used for 'invisible' filling of holes after inserting screws etc.
Each pellet is cut to length and then, with a little glue, hammered into a 12.7mm (1/2") hole.
The pellet is then sanded down flush to the timber giving an (almost) invisible finish.
Available in our full range of timbers, and to special order, in sizes other than 12.7mm.
£6.00 for 20 in all timbers.
Handrail bolts consist of an M8 dowel screw with a nut and washer.
They are used for fixing lengths of handrail to bends and volutes etc. They can also be used for invisibly fixing handrails to newels.
The wood screw end of the bolt is screwed into the bend or newel, leaving the M8 metal thread sticking out by around 40mm.
A pocket is then made in the underside of the handrail using a router or flat ended drill, this pocket should be around 30mm from the end of the handrail. A 10mm hole is then drilled in the end of the handrail to meet the pocket.
The handrail can now have some glue applied and be placed on the threaded stud sticking out of the article to be joined.
The end of the stud should now be sticking into the pocket and the washer and nut can be put on the end, when tightened this will form an incredibly strong joint.
When the fillet is fastened under the handrail any method of fixing is totally hidden.
Whilst used mainly for fixing handrails, the double ended bolts have many other uses.
